Where the hours actually pile up
A handful of things swing the total, and each is already priced into the figure you sign, so move day never springs a fresh charge.
- The building. A Santa Monica or Downtown LA high-rise timed around a booked freight elevator and a certificate of insurance takes more planning than a move that stays inside one neighborhood, and we build that into the truck and crew size.
- The driveway. A Silver Lake or Glendale hillside home with a steep, narrow driveway moves slower than a flat Sherman Oaks or Burbank lot, and a shuttle vehicle sometimes bridges the last stretch by hand.
- The packing. Boxes already taped shut and labeled keep the crew moving at a steady pace; it’s whatever gets left in the closets for the morning of that stretches a four-hour job into six.
- The heavy pieces. A piano, a gun safe, or studio equipment from a production job wants trained hands and the right rigging, quoted up front, sometimes with a 4-mover crew at $225/hr when the job calls for it.
