Danny reviews every request personally before a number goes back out. Nothing here locks you into anything — hang on to the quote a day, a week, however long you need. We work off the actual ZIP codes you send us, not a rough placeholder range, which is why most quotes land in your inbox before the afternoon's out. Nobody outside our Los Angeles office ever sees what you submit.

Movers carrying boxes onto a truck in Los Angeles

Ask anyone who’s coordinated moves across this city for over a decade what actually derails a moving day, and boxes rarely come up. It’s almost always one of three things: the wrong hour on the freeway, a building that wasn’t told about the truck, or a driveway nobody measured beforehand.

Timing the Freeway Instead of Fighting It

A move that crosses the Valley or heads into Downtown LA can run forty minutes or two hours, and the difference usually has nothing to do with distance. It comes down to when the truck actually pulls out of the yard relative to the 405 or the 101.

Departure window What to expect
Before 8am The most reliable window for anything crossing the Sepulveda Pass or heading downtown
Midday Workable, though the 405 rarely runs fully clear even between rush hours
After 3pm The window we try to avoid scheduling into, whenever a client’s calendar allows it

Marcus Boyd builds the daily dispatch board around these windows, shifting a Culver City or Sherman Oaks job earlier in the day rather than letting it collide with the evening crawl. A move that also touches the 101 through the Cahuenga Pass, or the stretch of the I-10 heading into Downtown LA, gets the same treatment: the route gets checked against the clock before the crew ever loads the first box, not after they’re already sitting in it.

High-Rises Operate on Their Own Clock

Santa Monica, Downtown LA, and Koreatown buildings run on reservation systems most homeowners never think about until moving week arrives.

  • Certificate of insurance filed with the property office before a truck is allowed near the loading dock
  • A freight-elevator block reserved ahead of time, sometimes a week or more out depending on the building
  • Move hours occasionally limited to weekday mornings only
  • Elevator padding and floor protection billed separately by some management companies

Nobody wants to find out on move day that the elevator’s booked for someone else. Priya gets the property office on the phone within a day of booking, and that call alone prevents most of the delays people expect from a high-rise move. — Danny Reyes, owner

Reading a Hillside Street Before the Truck Does

Silver Lake, Los Feliz, and the roads climbing into the Glendale hills weren’t laid out with an eighteen-wheeler in mind. Some streets narrow to a single lane on a curve, and some driveways were poured decades before anyone owned anything larger than a sedan.

  1. When you book: describe the street, not just the address; grade and width change which truck we send.
  2. Before move day: we flag any address that needs a shuttle vehicle to cover the last stretch by hand, so the equipment is already assigned.
  3. Morning of: clear curb space near the house if you’re able to; a blocked curb on a narrow street costs real time.
  4. On site: the crew stages from the closest safe point rather than forcing a full-size truck up a grade it can’t manage.

When a Production Schedule Rewrites Your Calendar

Short-notice reschedules aren’t rare here

A shoot that adds two weeks, or a lease that turns over faster than expected, happens often enough in this city that we build slack into the schedule for it. Selena Cho arranges short-term storage for the gap, whether that’s a closing that slips or a callback that lands with only a few days’ warning.

Handle This Paperwork Before Move Week, Not During It

None of this is complicated, but it’s the kind of thing that’s easy to push off until the week it actually matters, and by then a call to a utility company or an HOA office can take longer than the move itself.

  • Schedule final utility readings for your actual move date on both ends, not a rough guess
  • Start mail forwarding through USPS ahead of time instead of tracking down a missing bill later
  • Loop in a building manager or HOA on either end if one applies, especially where an elevator reservation is involved
  • Treat vehicle re-registration as its own separate task, not something to squeeze in on move day

Common questions

Which days of the week move fastest across town?
Tuesday through Thursday, especially mornings, generally beat both weekend congestion and a Friday scramble, though we’ll schedule around whatever your calendar needs.

Who books the freight elevator, us or you?
We do. Send us the building’s contact and we handle the reservation and the paperwork directly.

What happens if a production schedule shifts a few days before my move?
Call as soon as you know. We keep room in the calendar for it, and Selena can usually line up short-term storage if the new place isn’t ready yet.

Is it true some streets just can’t fit a normal moving truck?
A handful, yes. We know which Silver Lake and Los Feliz blocks need a shuttle before we ever quote the job, so it’s part of the plan from day one, not a surprise on move day.

Our lease turns over faster than we expected. Can you still fit us in?
Usually, yes. Between production reschedules and short-notice lease turnovers, we keep more flexibility on the calendar than a typical mover, and Selena can bridge the gap with storage if the new place isn’t quite ready.
